Stacking the Shelves (5)

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!  It is hosted by Tyngas Reviews.

Pam's Weekly Haul

From the library:

Glow (Sky Chasers #1) by Amy Kathleen Ryan
Spark (Sky Chasers #2) by Amy Kathleen Ryan
A Midsummer's Nightmare by Kody Keplinger
Epic Fail by Claire LaZebnik
Wanderlove by Kristen Hubbard

Sheri's Bounty of Books
I am on the lookout for young adult books that are based around characters, plots, and or themes found in Jane Austen books.  Pam found these two for me but if you know of more PLEASE post a recommendation.  I am a huge fan of Jane Austen spin-offs particularly when the author stays true to the wit and straight forward observations of daily life that characterize much of Austen's original works!

Bought (E-book):
Epic Fail by Claire LaZebnik
The Trouble with Flirting by Claire LeZebnik

  4. Great haul girls! I've been wanting to read Wanderlove and I have seen good things about The Trouble With Flirting!

Sheri - not sure if you've read this one yet but Spies and Prejudice has ties to Austen's Pride and Prejudice.

    Enjoy all of your books!

  6. You got a nice stack. I love Austen too! You should read these books based on her books: For Darkness Shows the Stars by Diana Peterfreund, Midnight in Austenland by Shannon Hale, and The Jane Austen Academy Series by Cecilia Gray (I wish the books in this series would have been longer). Then there are a bunch of others that I haven't read or only liked so-so: Prada and Prejudice, Enthusiasm, Prom and Prejudice, I Was Jane Austen's Best Friend. There are a bunch of others too.

Thanks for stopping by my STS!

  8. I'm SO jealous that you got Wanderlove from the library. I want to read that one so bad!

As for the Jane Austen books, have you heard of My Own Mr. Darcy? I'm reading it for an upcoming blog tour and it looks really good. Here's the cover reveal I did for it: http://suchanovelidea.com/2013/06/25/cover-reveal-giveaway-my-own-mr-darcy-by-karey-white/

  10. If you're looking for any Jane Austen inspired books - have you read For Darkness Shows the Stars? Ahh, I see some other bloggers have mentioned, but it's definitely got great characters and romantic tension and an interesting world, as it's post-apocalyptic. Hers a bit less on the wit and observations on human nature, but still fun I think. :)

I really liked the Sky Chasers series. Definitely one of my favorite YA sci-fi works, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you think of the two novels :). I've also heard good things about Wanderlove, and am looking forward to what you think of Claire Lezebnik's work, since you both will be reading Epic Fail.

    Happy reading!!

    1. I just finished Glow and it was definitely good, but dark and a bit disturbing. I'm reading the next one soon, but I need to take a slight break from it. I don't know why it affected me so much, I've read some pretty dark dystopians, but it just did. And Wanderlove is really good, just finished that yesterday. Epic Fail does look like fun. ~Pam

  12. I personally didn't like Glow, so I never read Spark. It's like, one of the few YA space-related books that I hated. But that's just me! :)

    1. I can see that, because it was a pretty dark and disturbing book. And most of the characters are pretty unlikable. I still thought it was really good, though. ~Pam
