Book Review: Time After Time by Tamara Ireland Stone

Time After Time (Time Between Us #2)
Author:  Tamara Ireland Stone
Publisher:  Disney-Hyperion, 368 pages
Publication Date:  October 8, 2013

From Goodreads:
Calling Anna and Bennett’s romance long distance is an understatement: she’s from 1995 Chicago and he’s a time traveler from 2012 San Francisco. The two of them never should have met, but they did. They fell in love, even though they knew they shouldn't. And they found a way to stay together, against all odds.

It’s not a perfect arrangement, though, with Bennett unable to stay in the past for more than brief visits, skipping out on big chunks of his present in order to be with Anna in hers. They each are confident that they’ll find a way to make things work...until Bennett witnesses a single event he never should have seen (and certainly never expected to). Will the decisions he makes from that point on cement a future he doesn't want?

Told from Bennett’s point of view, Time After Time will satisfy readers looking for a fresh, exciting, and beautifully-written love story, both those who are eager to find out what’s next for Time Between Us's Anna and Bennett and those discovering their story for the first time.

Review:
Time Between Us was one of my favorite books and I was really excited when I found out there was a sequel, although I was a bit worried because I was afraid for Anna and Bennett.  At the end of Time Between Us, there's hope for them, but you don't know how their relationship is going to work.  It's such a unique premise with the time travel because you have Anna and Bennett living 17 years apart.  Anna is a teenager in 1995 and Bennett is in 2012.  He can visit, but he can't stay permanently and sometimes it's difficult for him to visit when he wants to.  So this book is more about the realities of their relationship.

This book is from Bennett's POV and I fell in love with him all over again.  He has it so rough.  Whenever he's in his own time, he's just waiting around until he can get back to Anna.  How sad is that?  He's trying to figure out how to make this relationship with Anna work, and he's also struggling with whether he should use his time travel ability to change the past and help people.   I'm not sure this sequel was really necessary (not a lot happens, actually), but it's a sweet, romantic, moving, and emotional read and if you want to know more about Bennett and Anna, definitely read it.

  1. I absolutely loved this sequel, I really enjoyed getting to see Bennett's point of view on things. Like you, I began to feel really bad for him; I felt he had it so much harder than Anna. It also made me fall for Bennett so much more than I did in the first book.

I have also chosen to nominate you for the Liebster Blog award, I had no idea what it was when I was nominated so I had to google it. Seems like a great way to get your blog out there and attract new followers. If you wish to take part you can find all the information you need here

  2. I just downloaded Time Between Us from the Kindle store. It was only like $1.99 I think and I had heard good things so I thought I would check it out. We'll see how much I like that one before I decide to read the sequel. But....if not much happens in the sequel...then maybe I'll skip it. We'll just have to see how much I like the first one.

  3. I have heard so many good things about these books that I definitely want to read them at some point. I am even more intrigued now that you mention the second book is told from a different perspective (reminds me of Gayle Forman's stories) even if not much happens! Thanks for another great review!

    1. I love when you get the other POV. It seems like more authors are just redoing the same book from the alternate viewpoint, which feels like a rip-off to me, but this one continues the story from Bennett's POV, which I really liked because it was nice to get into his head. ~Pam

  4. I've heard so many great things about this series but haven't actually read it myself. The premise is so interesting, I love time travel books! It sounds a bit sad though that they live so far apart in time. It's always great to have a book from a different character's POV in a series but they always seem to disappoint me or like how you felt about this one, seem unnecessary. I'm worried I'm not going to like Four's POV in ALLEGIANT. I think the book would still be awesome with just Tris'

    1. I love time travel books too, I find them fascinating!

I'm looking forward to getting into Four's head (and it also makes me think they'll be separated for a time). I'm also looking forward to reading The Fiery Heart since we get Adrian's POV. ~Pam
