Review:
After that shocking ending in Starters, I was really excited to read Enders. The book begins right where Starters left off, with Callie hearing the Old Man's voice in her head and still feeling so betrayed about what happened with Blake. She then meets Hyden and they start working together to keep the Old Man from controlling the other kids with chips in their heads. There are so many twists and turns in this novel and one completely surprising revelation that I didn't see coming. Jaw dropping. Very unpredictable, but it did answer a nagging question I had throughout this book about the way the Old Man was acting.
The book is intense and filled with action and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. Callie is such a strong MC and I enjoyed getting to know Hyden, who is definitely mysterious and I never knew whether Callie should trust him or not. My only complaint is that I still don't feel like I know Michael any more than I did in the first book and I'm not sure what his character adds to the story. I thought he would play a larger role in this book, but he always seemed to stay on the periphery. The book wraps everything up, but there is still more that the author could do with these characters in this world, although my understanding is that this is a duology. In sum, I really enjoyed this book.

I'm starting this one today! Can't wait to see how it's all going to end. Bummer about Michael. I had hoped he would play a bigger role in this one too. I need to see if Starters is on Recaptains. It's been a while since I read it.
ReplyDeleteI reread Starters just so it would be fresh (skimmed it really). Yeah, I did like it, but I was a bit disappointed about Michael. Hope you enjoy it! ~Pam
