The TBR Tag

I was tagged by Danielle at Love At First Page to do a post about my TBR piles.  I'm glad she tagged me because it forced me to organize and make decisions about what I really want to read.

How do you keep track of your TBR pile?
I started using Goodreads about a year ago and here's a picture of my shelves:
I recently added the owned shelf so I can keep track of books I want to read and already own, the arc shelf, the already released shelf, which includes books that I want to read but I don't own yet, and the library shelf, to keep track of books I have checked out from the library.  I actually had over 30 books from the library but I decided to take back the ones that I'm not really that excited about reading.

Is your TBR mostly print or e-book?
Mostly e-books.  I usually read books on my Kindle unless it's part of a series that I love and want to own in hardback.

How do you determine which book from your TBR list to read next?
I'm a big mood reader so I just read what I'm in the mood to read.  Sometimes that becomes a problem because I look at my books and if I'm not in the mood to read any of them, I'll buy a new one.  I do read ARCS even if I'm not in the mood if the publication date is coming up or it's already past.

A book that's been on your TBR the longest?
Once We Were by Kat Zhang.  This book has been on my Goodreads list since November 17, 2013 (I started Goodreads in October of 2013).  It's been on my list so long because I decided to wait until the last book came out to read it.  I have a horrible book memory so I usually have to reread books in a series so that means I read the first book two times (not always but a lot of times).  I'm so tired of doing that!

A book that you recently added to your TBR list?
Vanishing Girls by Lauren Oliver

I loved Lauren Oliver's Delirium series and I'm looking forward to this one.  I still need to read Rooms and Before I Fall, though!

A book on your TBR strictly because of its beautiful cover?
I really don't pick books because of their covers (although sometimes I'm so glad I'm reading a book on my Kindle because the cover is embarrassing!)

A book on your TBR that you never plan on reading?
Since I just went through and deleted books I didn't think I would read, I'm happy to say that I don't think there's a book on my TBR right now that I don't plan on reading.  But you never know!

An unpublished book on your TBR that you're excited for?
How do I choose just one????  In the next couple of weeks there are so many great books coming out but if I had to choose just one, I choose:
I LOVE this series so I can't wait!

A book on your TBR that basically everyone has read except you?
Hmmm…this is a tough one.  I guess I pick:
This book has been around for seven years so I feel like everyone's read it but me.

A book on your TBR that everyone recommends to you?
I wouldn't say everyone, but both Rebecca at The Library Canary and Nicole at The Quiet Concert have raved recently about this book so I got it from the library:
Hope I love it!

A book on your TBR that you're dying to read?
DYING to get my hands on:
Noah Shaw!!!!!!

The number of books on your Goodreads TBR shelf?
Since I was brutal, it's currently at 180.  Not bad!

I'm tagging:
Nicole and Ashley at The Quiet Concert (if they haven't already been tagged)

  1. YAY. Glad you posted this! I've loved reading this. :D
MARA DYER. YES. OMG I'M SO SCARED. I'm re-reading the series right now, and more and more I'm afraid that it's all a hallucination or something. Ahhhhh.

  2. You an Nicole have such nice TBRs, I really need to do an overhaul and delete books I am no longer interested in! I really want to reread the Mara Dyer books before the next one comes out! I am for sure a mood reader!

  4. Great post. The Name of the Wind is a book that I seriously hear nothing but AMAZING things about. My manager and senior manager at my work keep raving about it to me and telling me I HAVE to read it. I will... one day!

  5. 180 books isn't bad at all. I sometimes take books off my TBR list on GR, but I would love to spend a couple of hours slashing through all the books that I know I will never read that are still on it. I haven't read the Unwind series, either, it just doesn't sound like something I would really like. I'm with you on the rereading series. I know we've had this discussion a couple of times. I'm trying to just not pick up any new series for awhile.
