Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books We've Read So Far This Year

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the Broke and the Bookish.

Pam's Picks:  This was an incredibly difficult Top Ten Tuesday because I've read so many great books this year.  But here's my list, divided into different categories:

1.  Best Contemporary Read This Year.  It's a tie between To All the Boys I've Loved Before (read my review here) and Chapel Wars (read my review here).  Both of these were 5 star reads for me.

 2.  Best Fantasy Read This Year.  Again, it's a tie between Stolen Songbird (read my review here) and Kiss of Deception (my review is scheduled to post 6/16/2014).  5 star reviews, loved both of them!

3.  Best Series Ender Read This Year.  This was really tough, because I actually read a lot of great series enders, like Into the Still Blue, Infinite, Three, Ruins, and Dreams of Gods & Monsters.  But I have to pick City of Heavenly Fire (read my review here).
4.  Best New Paranormal Series.  Again, it's a tie between Darkside Sun (read my review here) and White Hot Kiss (read my review here) (I mean, come on, it's JLA).

 5.  Best Book Read This Year That Lived Up to the Hype.  The Winner's Curse.  I wasn't sure if it would live up to the hype, but it completely deserved it and I loved it (read my review here).
Sheri's Choices: Adding a few new categories

6. Best Series. The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare.  I know its been around for awhile but I was only able to read it recently and I loved every beautiful word.  I wish I had read it before I started the Mortal Instruments series (read my review here).
7. Best Jane Austen Spin-Off. My Own Mr. Darcy, it's sweet and predictable but I thoroughly enjoyed it (read my review here).

8. Best Narration on Audible. The Precious Stone Trilogy by Kerstin Gier was such a wonderful series about a brave 16 year old girl who can travel through time.  The narrator Marisa Calin has moved into my top list of voices to listen to (read my review here).

9. Best Book Published in 2014. Cress (review) by Marissa Meyer was one of my most highly anticipated books in 2014 and it was worth the wait.  If only I didn't have to wait until February 2015 for Winter.

10. Best Return to A World. Having just recently completed the Beautiful Creatures series I was so excited to read more about Link and Ridley in Dangerous Creatures (review).

  1. The only book I've read here is Jenny Han's. Looks like I have some catching up to do. I love the way you broke it all done. Great! :)

  3. I like how you split your list into categories. Stolen Songbird looks like a really good fantasy! That one is sitting on my desk right now. :) I've seen Cress on a lot of TTTs today, which just reminds me that I still need to get to it. I'm so glad to hear that City of Heavenly Fire is a great series ender! That'll be on my shelf soon.

  4. I love how you split this into categories. I recently read The Winner's Curse and absolutely loved it, definitely lived up to the hype. To All The Boys made my list too, such a fun read and it made me smile so much when I was reading it. I am about to start the Ruby Red series, hopefully I end up loving that series.

  5. I really liked To All the Boys and The Winner's Curse. I can't wait to read Kiss of Deception. I still need to read Cassandra Clare's books (I know, I know). Great picks!

  7. Alright. That's it. *drops everything to read Stolen Songbird* I don't know why I keep putting it off when clearly it is amazing. I think I'll read it next week because I can't wait any longer. Also, The Winner's Curse totally lived up to the hype. I was so worried, but I shouldn't have been. And I still need to read City of Heavenly Fire but I'm so glad that it was an awesome series ender! That thing is a beast though!
