Book News: No Sequel to All Our Yesterdays by Cristin Terrill
Some of you probably already know this, but for those who don't, on July 21, 2014, Cristin Terrill posted that there will not be a sequel to All Our Yesterdays. According to her, she wrote the first draft and it was terrible, and as she kept revising, the book just wouldn't come together and she decided that her sequel idea just wasn't meant to be a book and that it would be better to have no sequel than a bad sequel. Click here for the post. I absolutely loved All Our Yesterdays and I would have loved to read a sequel, but it ended in a good place, I think. Click here for our review.
She also wrote that there will be an e-novella published in fall of 2014. On July 22, 2014, she posted a scene that takes place about nine months after the end of All Our Yesterdays. And it's from Finn's POV!! Click here to read it. So even though I'm sad that there won't be a sequel, we still have more of Marina and Finn to look forward to!

I have a post scheduled about this on Saturday! I actually really respect her for her decision. It had to be a tough choice to make and I love that she would rather give us no sequel than a bad one. And I think that AOY ended on a good note. I feel like it was tied up enough so I'm satisfied with her decision.
ReplyDeleteThat's so funny you have a post scheduled about this…great minds think alike! :) Yes, I agree, she made the right decision. She could have easily written a so-so sequel and made a lot of money, but apparently she's working on something else now. And yes, AOY ended on a good note so I'm happy. I am excited about the e-novella, this will be one of the few I'll read. ~Pam
DeleteWow, I had not heard this news yet. That is a bummer but I did feel like All Our Yesterdays ended pretty well and complete!

I agree. I think when I first read it I didn't even know about the sequel and I was happy with the way it ended. ~Pam
DeleteWow. I was never interested in the sequel anyways. I thought All Our Yesterdays was amazing and powerful as a stand alone. I'd rather have no sequel than a crappy one! I think she made a great decision. Can't wait to read the novella. Thanks for sharing this information.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I think she made the right decision too. ~Pam
DeleteI really need to read this one! I've heard great things, and it seems like it received a lot of positive feedback! I'm kind of happy it's a standalone now because I have so many series to finish still. lol
ReplyDeleteI agree, there are so many series it's nice to read a great standalone! ~Pam
DeleteWell, that's a bummer, but hopefully the novella will make up for it. I haven't read it yet, but everyone I know loved this one and it's high on my list.
ReplyDeleteIt ends in a good place, but knowing there's not going to be another book makes me want to read the novella (otherwise, I would have wanted an epilogue). ~Pam
DeleteI'm sad about no sequel - but also glad that she didn't push one out that she wasn't comfortable with. Except for the crazy last chapter, I thought AOY was a settled book, and I was worried about ruining that. I'd still love to know where she was going with it tho. I read the Finn chapter <3, but I didn't realize it was part of a novella. YAY! Cant wait for that. I Loveee FInn and Marina!
ReplyDeleteYes, more with Finn and Marina! I was curious with where she was going with it too given how AOY ended. But I guess with time travel, you never know. This is one novella I'm really looking forward to. ~Pam
DeleteI'm sad to hear this, was looking forward to starting this series. I am happy to go into it knowing it's going to be a standalone though. I'd have been disappointed if I'd read it, got really excited about the sequel and then found out that there wouldn't be one.
