Waiting on Wednesday: April Releases

Waiting on Wednesday features upcoming releases and is hosted by Breaking the Spine. This is our monthly post, where we pick books that are coming out in the next month that we just cannot wait for. That we're absolutely dying to read.

April Releases:

The Taking by Kimberly Derting (April 29)

From Goodreads:
When sixteen-year-old Kyra Agnew wakes up behind a Dumpster at the Gas ’n’ Sip, she has no memory of how she got there. With a terrible headache and a major case of déjà vu, she heads home only to discover that five years have passed . . . yet she hasn’t aged a day.

Everything else about Kyra’s old life is different. Her parents are divorced, her boyfriend, Austin, is in college and dating her best friend, and her dad has changed from an uptight neat-freak to a drunken conspiracy theorist who blames her five-year disappearance on little green men.

Confused and lost, Kyra isn’t sure how to move forward unless she uncovers the truth. With Austin gone, she turns to Tyler, Austin’s annoying kid brother, who is now seventeen and who she has a sudden undeniable attraction to. As Tyler and Kyra retrace her steps from the fateful night of her disappearance, they discover strange phenomena that no one can explain, and they begin to wonder if Kyra’s father is not as crazy as he seems. There are others like her who have been taken . . . and returned. Kyra races to find an explanation and reclaim the life she once had, but what if the life she wants back is not her own?

Memory loss?  Girl who hasn't aged?  Maybe who was taken by aliens?  So excited for this one!

A Few More We're Excited About:
The Geography of You and Me by Jennifer E. Smith (April 15)
Don't Look Back by Jennifer L. Armentrout (April 15)
To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han (April 15)
What I Thought Was You by Fitzpatrick Huntley (April 15)
The Treatment (The Program #2) by Suzanne Young (April 29)
Toxic Heart (Mystic City #2) by Theo Lawrence (April 8)

What books are you excited about?

  1. Awesome choices! Don't Look Back, To All the Boys I've Loved Before, What I Thought Was True and The Treatment are all at the top of my April wishlist :)

  2. Great cover! The premise is interesting, too! Hope you enjoy.
    Here's my pick...

  3. The Geography of You and Me, Don't Look Back, The Treatment, and The Taking. Super excited for all of these! It still need to finish Kimberly Derting's Pledge series...

I loved The Program and I managed to snag an ARC of The Treatment at ALA so hopefully I'll get to it soon!

  4. These are all great choices, some of these are on my TBR pile already. Check out our WOW
    Nahomi @ Books & Swoons

  5. I cannot wait for What I thought was true! That's one I haven't been able to access yet. I'm also planning to read Don't look back. I've decided to skip Program/Treatment for love triangle purposes - had a big discussion about those books today and they don't sound like they're for me. The kid on the cover of Toxic Heart looks exactly like Harry Potter/Daniel Radcliffe. I don't know much about that one yet. Great list!

  6. Ohh, The Taking sounds pretty mysterious! :) The Geography of You and Me was a cute, quick read I'm sure you'll like it. To All the Boys I've Loved Before was my WWW last week - I'm so excited about it! Have a nice Wednesday!

  7. April is going to be an OUTSTANDING month. I cannot even handle all the books coming out that I want to read. All three of the contemporaries you featured are on the tippy-top of my list. Great picks!

  8. Oooh, you have a lot of picks this week. I'm looking forward to What I Thought Was True, The Geography Of You and Me, and The Treatment. Thanks for stopping by My WoW.

  9. Fabulous list!!! I am super excited for all of these as well. The only one I'm not familiar with is Toxic Heart. Thanks for stopping by!

  10. Great list! I just finished my review for What I Thought Was True, which I hope to post soon, and was so disappointed. I loved My Life Next Door and was so excited for this, but it just wasn't that great a book. :(

I can't wait for To All The Boys I've Loved Before, it looks so good and I love Jenny Han's books. I'm also really excited for Don't Look Back, that looks really great.

  11. I cannot freaking wait for What I Thought Was True. My Life Next Door is one of my all time favorite contemporaries. April 15th can't come soon enough!
